Flat Feet
Flat feet have shown to cause injury. However, not all flat feet in children require orthotics. The latest research tells us to treat where there is pain and to monitor where there is a strong family history and the foot remains pronated while the child develops. Bigfoot podiatrists assess and monitor children accurately recording your childs arches and development. We provide the best advise on footwear and can tell whether orthotics are required or not. The key to managing flat feet in children is knowing which feet require treatment and our team will provide an accurate treatment plan when required.
Intoeing
Intoeing is one of the most common conditions we assess when in store at Future Feet and Stomp shoe stores. Frequently this is inherited and is painless while some develop tripping and more wear on their shoes. We often see this between the ages of 3 and 7 at which time most of the bones are still untwisting and therefore 90% of the cases we straighten by 7 years. Bigfoot have developed key tests to evaluate for intoeing and give valuable advise on sitting/sleeping positions, best footwear advise for improving intoeing and exercises for encouraging normal alignment.
If you would like an assessment with one of our team who specialises in childrens feet and leg development call us now for a basic assessment at Future Feet or Stomp Shoes or a more comprehensive assessment at our Northcote and Howick clinic.
